Dec 5th 2012: Christmas Greetings

Training will break for Christmas after next Tuesdays session. We will resume on Tuesday 8th January. Have a very good Christmas and peaceful new year. Best of luck to those competing in the last outing of the year — the odd aged All-Ireland Cross Country in Adamstown on Sunday.

Nov 26th 2012: Latest news

The Senior Cross Country championships are on next week in Celbridge. The odd ages All-Ireland cross country takes place the following week in Adamstown. Those travelling to Adamstown should check out the web-site here. Training continues each Tue/Thurs and Sunday before we break for Christmas.

A county juvenile development  squad indoor training session for U/14s and above will take place in Nenagh on Sat 15th and Sun 16th December—info here.

Nov 11th 2012: Leinster Cross Country—Odd Ages

Congratulations to Eoin and Tadhg who were part of the county team that took the bronze medal in Dunboyne yesterday. Eoin was the third scoring member of the team finishing 26th overall with Tadhg finishing 59th. In the girls U/13 Lara Curran finished 65th and John Fitzsimmons finished 25th in the boys U/15.

Oct 29th 2012: Leinster Cross Country—Even Ages

Congratulations to Tadhg and Eoin who were non scoring members of the county U/14 team that won the bronze medal in Rathdrum  yesterday. They both ran great races, out of age, over the tough 3km race finishing 35th and 39th respectively being 7th and 8th county guys home. They will also be representing the county in the odd ages Leinsters in 2 weeks time.

Oct 21st 2012: County Cross Country—Day 2

The second day of the county cross country brought beautiful weather and a host of winners. First up was the girls U/9 and our team of 5 consisting of four under 8s ran the race of their lives and won the team gold medal. Well done to Sophie (4th), Aishlinn (14th), Saoirse (18th), Aoife (30th) and  Roisin.  Next up were the boys U/9 and again a great performance from the first timers. The team of Aidan, Padraig, Cathal, Fayo and Ben came joint 3rd with 58 points. Our other winners on the day were Tadhg Murtagh (3rd in the boys u/13) and John Fitzsimmons (2nd in the boys U/15). In the seniors sealed handicap Liz Foy came 2nd overall. Pictures of the day here.

Oct 14th 2012: Leinster Cross Country Announcement

The odd aged Leinster Cross country will take place in Dunboyne, County Meath on November 11th. If you are travelling there please note that the parking for the event will be in Dunboyne CIE railway station across the road from the venue. Parking is 3 or if you prefer to take a chance with a 150 clamping fee which I’ve been assured happens quite regularly. More closer to the date.

Oct 14th 2012: County Cross Country

In true cross country weather, driving rain, the county championships kicked off in Eire-Og today, In the girls u/10, Leanne Tsang, competing for the first time, came home a brilliant 7th with Eadaoin Murtagh following her home in 19th place. Run of the day was next in the boys u/10 when again a first time runner Peter Hamilton left the field in his wake as he comfortably won the boys u/10 race. His team mates Jamie Scanlon and Fergal O’Grady finished down the field. Our under 12 athletes were Ryan , Daniel, Bridget and Sarah who all ran very well over very long distance. Our only team medal of the day, a silver,  was won by the boys u/14 comprising of Tadhg Murtagh (7th), Eoin O’Connor (8th), Conor Kelly (12th), Calum McGrath (16th), Robbie Kelly and Matthew Slevin. Eoin and Tadhg will now represent the county at the Leinsters in Wicklow at the end of the month. Robert Hewson and Ben Corcoran competed well in the boys u/16 run over 3.5km further than both boys had run before. And so it was left tot the masters: Liz Foy fought off an admiral challenge from a Dondea runner to claim the ladies prize and John Fitzsimmons finished 10th overall in a big field in the mens.

Next up is the odd ages next Sunday in Suncroft. The track is opposite the school and parking will be along the road there.

Oct 9th 2012: Even Age Cross Country

The even age and masters cross country takes place this Sunday in Caragh at 12pm. The course is on Éire-Óg GAA pitch beside Mondello Park. Directions are here. Please be there for 11:30am for warm up.

Oct 5th 2012:  Cross Country in Suncroft this Sunday Postponed

Due to the very sad news of the sudden death of Ciara O'Brien from St. Coca's the county board has made the decision to cancel the cross country scheduled for Sunday in Suncroft. Day 2 of the cross country will now take place on October 21st in Suncroft.

Training in St. Brigid’s Park and on Curragh as normal.

Sept 26th 2012:  Training this weekend

There will be no training on the Curragh this Sunday — training as normal in the Park at 10:30am

Sept 14th 2012:  County Cross Country Fixtures

The location of both of the county cross country fixtures have been finalized. Part 1 (the even ages) will take place in Suncroft on Sunday October 7th with part 2 (odd ages) taking place a week later on Sunday 14th October in Eire-Óg. Both days kick off at noon.

Sept 9th 2012:  County Track and Field—Round 3 and 4

There was three different competitions in Celbridge to round off the track and field championships. Pictures of the day are here.

In the u/13 hurdles Lara Curran won gold in the girls under 13 event.

In the county B championships Saoirse Murtagh was 3rd in the u/9 Ball Throw, Éadaoin Murtagh won gold in the u/10 80m, Brigid Barry was 2nd in the U/11 600m, Calum McGrath was first in the shot putt and Ben Curran was 2nd in the boys u/9 80m.

In the senior and masters championships, performance of the day went to John Fitzsimmons who held off a late surge from a Naas athlete to take silver in the senior 5000m, at the same time claiming gold in the masters o/45s. Earlier in the day he achieved the same in the 200m.

Also a big congratulations to all our athletes who took part in the league. The club took 2nd place in section B just narrowly losing out to Le Cheile by 8 points (1424 to 1416) for the gold position.

Sept 2nd 2012:  Kildare Juvenile League—Round 4

Well done to all who turned up today for the last round of the league. The overall results will not be available until next weekend but we did have 5 individual best athletes in section B; Calum McGrath, Tadhg Murtagh, Eoin McGrath, Fergal O’Grady and Ben Curran. Photos here.

Next up is the county B championships next weekend in Celbridge at 12pm.

Aug 27th 2012:  Recent Results

We had 3 competitors at the recent All-Ireland Masters track and field. In the ladies 800m Liz Foy won gold in V2 and Brigid Fitzsimons won silver in V3. In the 3000m they both finished just outside the medals. Mick Kenny came 3rd in the Javelin and was unlucky not to get medals in the Hammer and Long Jump.

In the community games national finals Lara Curran, Mary Hamilton and Arron Jacob  were part of the successful Milltown relay team winning the 4th place medal while Calum McGrath came 9th in the long jump.

At the All-Ireland “B” Championships John Fitzsimons won medals in the Long Jump and 800m.

Michael Kenny came 3rd in the shot at the Scottish Indoors and won a silver and bronze at the Irish Junior track and field.

Aug 20th 2012:  Welcome back

Training resumes tonight at 6pm—Welcome back everyone. The 4th and last round of the league takes place on Sunday week (2nd Sept) in Naas at 12pm. The county B championships take place the following Sunday in Celbridge at 12pm. The county cross country dates are Oct 7th (even ages) and Oct 14th (odd ages) - venues to be decided.

Best of luck to Calum McGrath in the national community games next weekend in Athlone. Calum competes in the long jump.

July 11th 2012:  Summer Holidays

Last night was our last evening training for the summer. We will restart  on Tuesday August 21st at 6pm in the park. In the mean time keep fit and best of luck to those competing in the All Ireland track and field championships and the Community Games finals in August.

July 8th 2012:  County Track and Field Championships—Day 2

The damp weather could not dampen the spirits of the athletes in Celbridge today as they made off with a large haul of medals. Apart from our many individual winners we had 2 relay successes with the ladies senior team of Mabel Murtagh, Sandra Fitzsimons, Liz Foy and Brigid Fitzsimons going one better than last year and winning the gold. The boys u/14 team of Calum McGrath, Fionn Heffernan, Arron Jacob, and Tadhg Murtagh came second. Well done to all our athletes who competed with special mention to our first time competitors and winners, Aidan Kelly, Fionn Heffernan, Dylan Monaghan and Josh Clinton. July 1st 2012:  County League Postponed

The rescheduled  fourth and final round of the juvenile league has been postponed and will not take place this Thursday. A new date will be decided at the August county board meeting.

July 1st 2012:  Leinster Juvenile Track and Field

There was no individual medal winners this weekend but Callum McGrath and John Fitzsimons won silver medals as part of the boys u/15 county relay team. Well done to all our other competitors, Mary Hamilton, Tadhg Murtagh, Aaron Jacob and Matthew Doyle.

June 27th 2012: Community Games—County Finals

Best of luck to all members competing in the community games athletics in Clongowes Wood on Weds and Thurs. Hopefully a few will qualify for Athlone.

June 15th 2012: County T&F Championships Rescheduled

The second  round of the county track and field championships  has been rescheduled to July 8th in Celbridge. The last round of the County Juvenile League takes place in Crookstown on  Sunday 24th June at 12pm. Big turnout required.

June 12th 2012: County T&F Championships Day 2

The second round of the county track and field championships takes place this Sunday in Kilcock. Start time is 12pm so all competitors should be there for 11:30am for warm up. Directions to Kilcock are here.

June 12th 2012: Notice from Leinster Athletics

Following on from the notification of the rescheduling of the U/9, U/10 & U/11 Pairs Competition and U/12 T&F Championships due to the extreme weather conditions, I wish to advise on behalf of Athletics Leinster that we will now hold these events in conjunction with the Junior & U/23 T&F Championships in Navan on Saturday the 16-06-12, while the Inter County League has been postponed until later in the Summer

May 21st 2012: County League

Finally a bit of summer (almost) in Naas on Sunday and a big turnout for round 2 of the league. We were 8 points behind before Sunday and we will soon know whether the great efforts of everyone on Sunday will lift us to the top of the table. Well done to everyone who ran and jumped and threw. The 3rd round is on Wednesday 6th June in Crookstown at 7pm so look forward to another big turn-out.

May 13th 2012: New Dates for county fixtures

Round 2 of Juvenile League is now on next Sunday 20th May at 12noon in Naas. Round 3 is on Wednesday 6th June in Crookstown. Day 2 of the Track and Field Championships are now on June 17th in Kilcock.

May 10th 2012: County T &F Championships

Following the postponement of the first round of the county track and field championships on April 29th the new dates are Saturday May 12th (in Leixlip) and Sunday May 20th (in Naas).

Those competing in Leixlip on Sunday please meet at 11:15am at the track. Directions are here.

Apr 16th 2012: Juvenile League Round 1

Remember the Juvenile League for U/8—U/15 kicks off this Saturday in Celbridge at 12 o’clock. Hopefully we will have a big turnout and go one better than last year.

Apr 2nd 2012: Training over Easter

Training as normal on Tuesday 3rd April. No training on Thursday 5th or Easter Sunday. Training resumes on Tuesday 10th April

Mar 19th 2012: County Road Races

Congratulations to Liz Foy and Brigid Fitzsimmons who competed in the Senior and Master road races over the last two weekends. First up was the masters in Naas where they both won gold in the 0/40 and 0/45 categories respectively. Next up was the seniors held in Leixlip, Liz came home 2nd and Brigid 6th.

Mar 18th 2012: Fixtures for Championship and League

The dates for the first two rounds of the Juvenile League and the County Track and Field Championships have been announced:

The Championship dates are Sunday April 29th and Saturday May 12th.

The League dates are Saturday April 21st and Saturday May 26th.

Feb 19th 2012: Leinster Juvenile Indoors

Only one medal but plenty of PBs and great displays in Nenagh over the weekend. In the boys under 14 Calum McGrath came 3rd in the long jump and qualified for the  60m final eventually finishing 5th. Sarah Fitzsimmons, competing in her first indoors competed in the shot putt, long jump and 600m doing well in all events. It was a case of 5th all-round for Tadhg Murtagh in the boys u/13 long jump, high jump and 600m heats. Arron Jacobs failed by 3/100s of a second to qualify for the u/13 60m final but came a very credible 8th in long jump. Well done also to our other competitor Ben Corcoran, John Fitzsimmons and Matthew Doyle  in the boys u/15 and Mary Hamilton in the girls u/13

Feb 5th 2012: All Ireland “B” X-Country

Tadhg Murtagh was our only juvenile competitor today in the boys U/13 event. He ran a good race to finish 29th overall and was a member of the winning county team.

Jan 29th 2012: Leinster Masters Indoors

Our 3 competitors in Nenagh today won 6 medals between them.

John Fitzsimmons took a gold and 2 silvers in the M3 category at 800m, 1500m and 3000m. Liz Foy won a brace of silvers in the 800m and 1500, while Brigid Fitzsimmons also took silver in the 3000m.

Jan 16th 2012: All-Ireland Masters Indoors

Congratulations to our masters athletes who won a combined 6 medals at the weekend. Sheelagh Morrissey won gold in 200m, Long Jump  and Shot Putt in V5, Liz took gold in the V2 800m and Mick Kemmy “walked” away with the bronze in the V5 walk.

Jan 8th 2012: Welcome Back

Training will resume on Tuesday night at 6pm in the park. Time to shake off the cob-webs and get ready for the indoor and track and field championships
