Jun 23rd 2016: Kildare County League Update

Update from County Board:

I'm sure everyone is by now aware that Ireland v. France kick off is scheduled for 2.00pm this Sunday. As a result the plans for league round 4 on Sunday have been changed.

A, B and C divisions will now compete simultaneously on Sunday morning, with the competition starting for everyone at 9.30am. I've been asked to advise that this will be 9.30am sharp and that clubs should ensure that their officials are in place well in time to allow a 9.30am start.

There will have to be some changes to the programme of events to facilitate the competitions being run simultaneously and to ensure we're all home well in time for kick off. Michael Casey and John Troy will communicate the amended programme to the respective clubs when they've had a chance to discuss it with each other later tonight. But one of the changes is that all field events scoring will be based on 2 throws/jumps/putts etc instead of the usual 3.

I know some of the programme changes will be at short notice, but it's all being done in the National interest.

PRESS RELEASE – ROUND TOWERS GAA CLUB KILDARE TOWN
Round Towers GAA Club Kildare Town submitted plans for an all weather pitch and running track to Kildare County for their approval on the 03rd of Feburary 2016.
The project is being constructed in conjunction with the Kildare Town Athletic Club and is being funded by the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport under the Sports Capital Program 2004 which was awarded to Round Towers GAA Club.
The Department are delighted to s
ee the funds being used for a cross community inter sport project. The project will be of benefit to the wider community of Kildare Town which sadly is lacking adequate sporting facilities for a town of its size.
Frank McMahon the chairman of Round Towers GAA club is delighted with the feedback that has been provided by both the members of the club and the wider community in Kildare Town in relation to the project. Frank said “Round Towers GAA Club has provided facilities for the community of Kildare Town for 129 years we celebrate our 130th anniversary next year and it would be a fitting tribute to all members who have worn the Black and Amber and who have supported the club in those years to see such a state of the art facility opening in Kildare Town”
Eddie Pelin the chairman of Kildare Town Athletic Club is delighted that Round Towers GAA club have included The Kildare Town Athletic Club in the project by suggesting the provision of an all-weather running track as part of the project. The Kildare Town Athletic Club celebrate their 60th anniversary this year and it is hoped that the project will be completed in late summer 2016 and the official opening will form part of their diamond anniversary celebrations.
